Msexchangeadtopology when updating security for a remote procedure call

( I think you have not turned on scavenging of the records in the DNS and it takes a while to start ???

Log Name: Application Source: MSExchange ADAccess Date: 4/8/2013 PM Event ID: 2601 Task Category: General Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Exchange10.Description: Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGY (PID=1268).

Make sure that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is running.

In addition, make sure that the network ports that are used by RPC are not blocked by a firewall. When updating security for a remote procedure call (RPC) access for the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service, Exchange could not retrieve the security descriptor for Exchange server object DIAMONDSBS - Error code=80040a01.

The Exchange 20 servers, with the exception of one Exchange 2007 mailbox server, were throwing errors such as these: Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchange ADAccess Event Category: Topology Event ID: 2114 Description: Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE. Topology discovery failed, error 0x80040952 (LDAP_LOCAL_ERROR (Client-side internal error or bad LDAP message)).

Look up the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) error code specified in the event description.

When initializing a remote procedure call (RPC) to the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service, Exchange could not retrieve the SID for account The Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service will continue starting with limited permissions.

I retired the 20 servers and gave the two extra IP addresses to the Exchange 2010 server. This is something I’ve ended up having to resolve multiple times with customers, so I felt it would be good to get a post out about it.In this case, the customer had an environment of Exchange 2003, 2007, and 2010.We later found out that a non-MS software might've caused these changes in the hostfile. Usually the above errors can be caused by errors in DNS / missing SPN registrations and or missing Audit permissions.Hi, We moved to a different building over the weekend.
